How to get to Jogasaki Beach from Tokyo

Here we will introduce two different access routes from Tokyo to Jōgasaki Kaigan, one by train and the other by car. Please check the time required and fees, and choose the method that suits you best.

train

The fastest way to get to Jōgasaki Kaigan by train from Tokyo is to take the JR Tokaido Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Atami Station (about 40 minutes), then take the JR Itō Line to Ito Station (about 20 minutes), and transfer to the Izu Kyuko Line to get off at Jōgasaki Kaigan Station (about 20 minutes). From Jōgasaki Kaigan Station, it takes about 35 minutes on foot, for a total time required of about 2 hours, enough for a day trip.

If you do not use the Shinkansen, another route is to take the JR Ueno Tokyo Line from Tokyo Station to Atami Station (about 2 hours), then take the JR Ito Line to Ito Station (about 20 minutes), and finally transfer to the Izukyu Line to Jogasaki Kaigan Station (about 20 minutes). This route takes about 3 hours, but the fare is about 2,000 yen cheaper one way.

When driving from Tokyo to Jōgasaki Kaigan, the most common route is to take the Tomei Expressway and exit at the Atsugi IC. From the Atsugi IC, take the Odawara-Atsugi Road, exit at the Ishibashi IC, and take the Manazuru Road. If you take the Atami Beach Line from Manazuru Road, you can head south along the coast of the Izu Peninsula to Jōgasaki Beach while enjoying the spectacular view.

However, the Tomei Expressway, Odawara-Atsugi Road, and Manazuru Road are frequently congested, especially on weekends and holidays. To avoid traffic jams as much as possible, we recommend traveling on weekdays, early in the morning, or at night. Also, one of the best parts of traveling in Izu is to drive slowly while enjoying the scenery along the way.
