What is Jogasaki Coast?

How to get to Jogasaki Beach from Tokyo

Although it is somewhat far from Tokyo to Jōgasaki Beach, it can be reached in about two hours by train or car. It is far enough to take a day trip.

train

To go by train, first take the Shinkansen bullet train to Atami Station, then take the JR Ito Line from Atami to Ito Station. Then transfer to the Izu Kyuko Line at Ito Station to get to Jogasaki Kaigan Station.

If you do not use the Shinkansen, you will have to use the JR Tokaido Line or the Odakyu Odawara Line express train. It will take about 3.5 hours in total to arrive at the destination, but the fare is instead about 2,000 yen cheaper one way.

By car, first take the Tomei Expressway to the Atsugi IC, then take the Odawara-Atsugi Road to the Ishibashi IC. Next, take the Atami Beach Line from Manazuru Road down the Izu Peninsula to Jogasaki Beach.

Tomei Expressway and Manazuru Road are congested roads, so be sure to choose a time and time of year when there is little traffic congestion.

Recommended Spots on Jogasaki Coast

The most attractive thing about Jōgasaki Coast is its powerful and beautiful beach, but there is also a famous suspension bridge and lighthouse that should also be seen. A Japanese restaurant called Boranoya is also famous.

Bora-noya is a Japanese restaurant located on the Jōgasaki Coast. The restaurant is housed in a house where fishermen used to live in the Edo period (1603-1868), and offers delicious fish dishes from the Izu sea. Dishes using sea bream are popular, and the menu includes dishes such as simmered fish, sashimi, and zuke donburi. Other recommended dishes include Ise shrimp tempura rice bowl.
